Frequently asked questions
How much PF is deducted from salary?
The employee pays 12% of Basic plus DA every month. The employer pays another 12%, of which 8.33% goes to the pension scheme (EPS) and the rest to the employee’s EPF account.
What is the EPF wage ceiling?
Contributions are mandatory on wages up to ₹15,000 a month. Many employers contribute on ₹15,000 only; others contribute on the full Basic plus DA. Tick or untick the ceiling box to compare both.
Why is the pension (EPS) part capped at ₹1,250?
EPS is 8.33% of wages up to ₹15,000, which is ₹1,250 a month. Anything the employer pays above that goes into the EPF account instead.
Does this include interest or EDLI?
No. This calculator shows the monthly and yearly contributions only. It does not project interest, and it leaves out EDLI and admin charges, which the employer pays separately.
Rates used: employee 12%, employer 12% split into EPS 8.33% (on wages up to ₹15,000) and EPF for the rest. Check the current rules on the EPFO website before you file.
