Frequently asked questions
How is GST calculated?
For a price before tax, GST = amount × rate ÷ 100, and the total = amount + GST. For a price that already includes GST, the base = total × 100 ÷ (100 + rate) and GST = total − base.
What is the difference between GST inclusive and exclusive?
An exclusive price has GST added on top of it. An inclusive price already contains the GST, so the tax has to be taken out of it.
How is GST split into CGST and SGST?
For a sale within the same state, GST is split equally: half as CGST and half as SGST (or UTGST in a union territory). For a sale between states, the full amount is IGST.
